Itinerary of 3 days and 2 nights
history, nature, good taste and excellencies!
- 1st Day:
Canossa - Castelnovo ne' Monti - Viano
From the exit of the highway in Reggio Emilia, which allows us to admire the bridges of Santiago Calatrava, a true work of high engineering, we go towards the hills to start our itinerary in Matilda's territories arriving at Canossa.
Stop in Quattrocastella for the visit to the “Cinque Campi” farm, which produces wines and DOP Traditional Balsamic vinegar of Reggio Emilia.
Arriving in Canossa, visit to the famous Castle, located on a cliff from which you can enjoy the view of the valleys underneath.
Possibility to visit the Gianferrari cured meats factory, that produces different types of cured meats, Parmigiano Reggiano Mountan Quality and Traditional Balsamic vinegar of Reggio Emilia.
With a pleasant route across the Reggiano Apennines, we reach Castelnuovo Né Monti, overlooked by the Rock of Bismantova.
Lunch at the farm.
We will go back towards the lowlands stopping in Viano at one of our farms for dinner and accommodation.
- 2nd Day:
Maranello - Torre Maina - Nirano - Levizzano o Castelvetro
Breakfast at the farm and departure for Maranello.
We will take a journey in the atmosphere of the Ferrari myth by vising the Ferrari Museum.
Afterwards we will go to Torre Maina to visit the family-run farm “Clara Scarabelli”, where the owners produce the precious DOP Balsamic Vinegar of Modena with grapes of their vineyard. Tasting with purchase opportunity of their products.
At only 2km we find the “Il Piccolo Mugnaio” farm, where we can participate at a lesson of homemade pasta, which we will have for lunch, a long with some specialties made from Maria!
In the afternoon visit to the Salse di Nirano Natural Reserve.
Later, visit to the medieval towns of Castelvetro and Levizzanno Rangone, located in the hills where the DOP Grasparossa Lambrusco di Castelvetro is produced.
Visit to a winery, followed by a tasting and from dinner based on homemade pasta and crescentine or gnocco fritto.
- 3rd Day:
Manzolino - Spilamberto - Vignola
Early rise and breakfast at the farm, departure for Manzolino di Castelfranco Emilia to watch the production process of the Parmigiano Reggiano at the “Mongiorgi” farm, with tasting and buying opportunities.
We then move to Spilamberto, where the Franceschini cured meats factory awaits us, one of the many producers of typical products such as the Zampone and the Cotechino of Modena IGP, in addition to other traditional products like salami, coppa, bacon, pork scratchings and prosciutto di Modena.
We will also visit the Traditional Balsamic vinegar of Modena Museum.
We then go to Vignola, world famous for its cherry production, ans stop in a farm for lunch. Tasting and purchase of seasonal fruit.
After lunch visit to the marvelous medieval fortress and, at the end tasting of the traditional Barozzi cake, made of chocolate and coffee.
